About the show

Ours is a Goldilocks world, in a Goldilocks universe. Conditions here are just right - not too hot and not too cold. And the planet is neither too big nor too small. In fact, conditions on planet Earth are just right for life.

Mary Mulvihill goes on a geological odyssey, discovering fascinating fossils, exploring fantastic landscapes and examining fundamental science in this series marking International Year of Planet Earth.

The eight-part series will explore, among other things:

-         Why ours is a Goldilocks world?

-         Where Ireland has come from - nearly 2 billion years of Irish history?

-         Fantastic Irish fossils

-         The story of water on Earth

-         Why we need earthquakes and volcanoes - and the Irish engineer?

-         Who is the father of modern scientific seismology?

-         The hole in the ground that fuelled Ireland's tiger economy and construction boom.
